I was asked by a customer recently for assistance ahead of a Profile and Pattern audit. Their context marketing team is about to reapproach pattern matching on their website, and the marketer planned to start with an audit of pages previously tagged with profile value.
The exact report he was looking for doesn’t exist out-of-the-box, but I listed three options below. If you’ve setup basic profiles, all related keys and cards were configured in the Marketing Control Panel.
1. View Linked items for Profiles:
Profile Cards store a set of profile key values, and marketers can assign these to pages across the site. The Parent item above both Profile Cards and keys is the main Profile item. If you navigate to a Profile in the Marketing Control Panel, you can generate a list of linked items, which shows all pages that are related to the selected Profile item. From the file menu in the ribbon choose Navigate>Links.
Unfortunately, Sitecore does not display Links for individual Profile Cards because of the way they’re stored on pages.
2. Visualize Profile Cards with Icons for the Content Editor:
Each Profile Card has an Image field which is used for icons. Icons appear in various areas of the Sitecore UI. Any square image can be uploaded to the Media Library and associated. I often use Powerpoint to generate a quick set of custom icons.
Once the icon is associated with the Image field, it will being appearing in the Content Editor. This saves several steps and makes it very easy to visualize Profile Cards that have been assigned to items.
3. Work with your DEV team to generate a report of tracking field values:
This involves a minor request toward the development team, but I think you’ll find the most value with this option. A developer could generate a custom export.
A developer could export a csv with Item ID, Page Name, and Tracking (where populated) fields. Please let me know in comments if you’re aware of an existing module or tool that would enable a quick export of profile value.
